Lapeer Community Schools is announcing the retirement of Mark Rajter, Assistant Superintendent of Business, effective June 30, 2026.
Rajter came to Lapeer in September 2014 after previously working as an assistant superintendent for multiple districts in Oakland County.
"Mark has been an integral component of our central office since the day he arrived in Lapeer," said LCS Superintendent Matt Wandrie. "He has guided the district in making responsible financial decisions and has been a major part of making the current bond a reality. We certainly wish Mark all the best in his retirement and will miss him dearly."
In retirement, Rajter plans on spending more time with family and friends, hunting in northern Michigan, and cooking.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Lapeer," Rajter said. "The people and the work have been great and I am proud to have been a part of the improvements and positive changes over the last 11 and a half years. I wish the district nothing but the best as we move forward."
Erica Ingles, the district's current Director of Finance, will assume some of Rajter's responsibilities starting July 1, 2026, as she transitions to her new role as Executive Director for Business and Finance.
As part of ongoing cost-saving initiatives, the district will work with a third-party company to provide additional support for the department as well as redistribute work within the district's business and human resources departments.
"As school district enrollments continue to decline across Michigan, Lapeer is not immune to making financial and structural adjustments to accommodate for that," Wandrie said. "We have started to explore ways to be more cost-effective and diligent with district funds and that starts at the central office level. A number of ways to reduce our administrative and overall budget have already been implemented, with more measures soon to be put in place. This collaboration with our business and HR departments is a cost-savings move and one that will benefit the future of our district."
